One story, told over two years

2027 is Year One, The Africa That Was. We travel from precolonial roots, through the colonial encounter, to the bright dawn of independence. Year Two follows in 2028, and each year is complete on its own.

African cloth at the heart of every block

Ankara is the spine of every block, and it is always enough on its own. Woven and dyed indigenous accents are there for those who would like them.

A skill that grows with you

This year we work with silhouettes and raw-edge fused collage, building gently from simple shapes to showpiece blocks like the warrior queen. The coral crown waits for you in Year Two.

A rhythm you can keep

One block a month, with a live pattern reveal and a show and tell. The BOM has run on this rhythm for six years.

Registration opens in December. We begin in January.
